The new development plan for the cement works site in Akranes envisages a new residential area on two lots. The total size of the plots is 9,450 m² and 123 new apartments are proposed, spread over a total of 6 buildings.
The buildings on the larger property to the south form a well-protected courtyard that is very well connected to the existing path system. There are 144 parking spaces in an underground car park.
In each building there are apartments of different sizes, ranging from studios to 5-room apartments and are accessed either by staircases, arcades or private entrances.
The buildings have been broken up into smaller volumes in order to create a connection to the existing neighboring buildings. They are characterized by pitched, pent or flat roofs and vary in the design of the facade.
