House in Skerjafjördur

Skildinganes is situated in Skerjafjördur at the south side of Reykjavik, close to the sea. The form of this detached house takes its cues from the small scale of the surrounding structures. With parts of one and two stories every elevation of the house looks different. The building consists of pre-cast concrete walls and has a timber facade of vertical larch boards. The ground floor comprises the main living areas, open kitchen, dining, WC and garage. Upstairs are several bedrooms and a bath, with access to a south facing terrace. Both stories are connected by a sculptural staircase, that separates the main living areas. The surrounding garden features a whirlpool and intimate terraces that are protected from views by timber and concrete walls.
